Russia's inflation amounted to 0.2 percent between December 2 and 8, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today. The figure stood at 0.2 percent for the month to date and 12.7 percent for the year to date, compared to 0.4 percent and 11.1 percent for the respective periods of 2007. Prices for canned meat, frozen fish, tea and certain types of confectionary rose more rapidly than others, amounting to 0.5-0.7 percent. Meanwhile, prices for rice, wheat, flour, sunflower butter, and sugar decreased 0.1-0.6 percent. Fruit and vegetable prices edged up 0.2 percent, whereas prices for car gasoline and diesel fuel dropped 2.1 percent and 2.3 percent, respectively.
